Every minute of every day, someone in the United States suffers a stroke. University Medical Center at Brackenridge is a leader the field of stroke prevention, treatment, and research. In fact, UMC Brackenridge has received the prestigious Primary Stoke Center Certification. University Medical Center at Brackenridge (along with Seton Medical Center Austin) was the first hospital in Texas to receive the Certification.
To be certified as a Primary Stroke Center, a hospital must offer expert clinical care and leading-edge research. Currently, there are nearly a dozen stoke-related clinical trials being conducted at UMC Brackenridge’s renowned Brain & Spine Center—projects such as studying siblings who suffer strokes, revascularization, and a host of new drugs and treatments.
